Frame Repair vs Beam Replacement: What's the Difference?

8 July 20254 min read

A common question we get from warehouse teams: "Do we need to replace the whole frame, or just the damaged beam?"

Beam-only damage Beams are designed to be the consumable element of a racking system. If a beam is bent, the connector is sheared, or the safety clip is missing, a like-for-like replacement (e.g. 2700mm or 3300mm) is usually quick and cost-effective.

Frame / upright damage Uprights are structural. Damage here usually means: - Repair sleeves welded to manufacturer-approved sections, or - Full upright replacement matched to your brand (Mecalux, Dexion P90, Redirack, AR, PSS, Esnova, etc.)

Splice repairs and base plate replacements are typically faster and cheaper than full frame swaps — but only when used within their approved scope.

Brace damage Brace replacement is fast but must be done with brand-correct components. Mismatched braces can void compliance.

When in doubt, send us photos via WhatsApp or our enquiry form and we'll advise the most cost-effective compliant repair.
