Pallet Racking Repairs
Pallet Racking Repairs — The Complete Service
Rackstor delivers pallet racking repairs as a complete, end-to-end service — not just parts, and not just labour. Whether you need a single pallet rack repair after a forklift strike or a full multi-bay refit, one team handles triage, survey, quotation, supply, fit and re-inspection, from the moment a bay is damaged to the signed completion certificate landing in your inbox.
What counts as repairable damage
Bent or buckled uprights, splayed beams, sheared safety clips, twisted bracing, torn base plates, corrosion at floor level and forklift impact damage are all repairable — provided the work is carried out with like-for-like original manufacturer components. Per SEMA guidance, damaged parts must be replaced, never straightened or welded.
The fixed-price quote process
Send photos and details by phone, WhatsApp or email. A SEMA-aligned engineer surveys the damage, identifies the exact racking make and profile, and issues a written fixed-price pallet rack repair quotation the same day — with part numbers listed, no day-rate creep and no hidden costs.
SEMA-aligned engineers
Every pallet racking repair is carried out by a SEMA-aligned engineer to the SEMA Code of Practice for the Use of Static Pallet Racking. Components are measured against SEMA tolerances, torque-checked on completion and signed off for HSE, insurance and audit records.
Same-day response
For emergency pallet racking damage we aim to attend same-day or next-day, isolate the affected bay and prop or replace as needed to get the warehouse safely back in operation with the minimum downtime.
Nationwide coverage
We repair all makes of pallet racking — Mecalux, Dexion (P90 and Speedlock), Link 51, Redirack, Esnova, Stow, Apex, Polypal, AR Racking, PSS, Bito, Kimer and Hi-Lo — anywhere in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, with priority same-day response from our South West base in Somerset and Bristol.
Pallet Racking Repairs UK
Pallet Racking Repairs UK — Emergency & Planned
Racking repairs cover any work needed to restore a pallet racking system to its rated load capacity after damage, wear or corrosion. Typical damage includes bent or buckled uprights, deformed beams, sheared safety clips, twisted bracing and torn base plates — most of it caused by forklift impact. Under SEMA guidance and the HSE's HSG76, damaged racking must be unloaded and isolated until it is repaired by a competent engineer; ignoring damage risks a full bay collapse, serious injury and invalidated insurance cover.
We provide two routes: emergency racking repair — a same-day or next-day callout when a bay has just been hit and needs isolating, propping or replacing — and planned racking repair, where damage identified during a SEMA inspection is scheduled in batches to minimise disruption. Both are carried out by SEMA-aligned engineers using like-for-like original manufacturer components.
We repair all makes of pallet racking, including Mecalux, Dexion (P90 and Speedlock), Link 51, Redirack, Esnova, Stow, Apex, Polypal, AR Racking, PSS, Bito, Kimer and Hi-Lo — anywhere in the UK, with priority response across Somerset, Bristol and the South West.
Damaged Warehouse Racking
Pallet Racking Repairs — Common Rack Damage We Fix
Damaged warehouse racking rarely fails on the first hit — it fails after repeated forklift strikes accumulate. Every type of rack damage below is repairable, but none should be left in place under load. If you see any of this in your warehouse, isolate the bay and call us.
Bent or buckled upright frames
Vertical front or rear legs deformed by forklift impact — the most common failure mode and a SEMA red-tag item above 5 mm deflection.
Damaged beams and connectors
Splayed beams, deformed end connectors, sheared safety pins or cracked welds. Beams must be replaced like-for-like — never straightened or welded.
Forklift impact damage
Strikes at floor level, corner damage on aisle ends and load-transfer damage from over-height pallets. Often hidden behind stock until inspection.
Corrosion and rust damage
Common in cold stores, food production and wash-down environments. Pitting at floor level reduces section strength and triggers SEMA inspection failures.
Missing or damaged safety clips
Beam locking pins and pallet stops dislodged during pallet movement. Cheap to replace, critical to the rated capacity of the bay.
Damaged base plates and floor fixings
Torn or lifted base plates and loose, sheared or missing anchor bolts. Repaired with footplate splice kits or full upright replacement.
Frame twist and misalignment
Out-of-plumb uprights from accumulated minor impacts. Corrected by replacement and re-shimming to manufacturer tolerance.
SEMA Code of Practice
SEMA Damage Tolerances — When Does Racking Need Repair?
The SEMA Code of Practice for the Use of Static Pallet Racking sets precise, measurable tolerances for when a racking component must be repaired or replaced. These figures are not visual judgement calls — a SEMA-aligned inspector or repair engineer measures every defect against them, and any component exceeding tolerance must be taken out of service.
| Component | Measurement | Tolerance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upright frontal bend | Cross-aisle (front-to-back) | 3 mm max | Measured over a 1 metre gauge length |
| Upright lateral bend | Down-aisle (left-to-right) | 5 mm max | Measured over a 1 metre gauge length |
| Bracing members | Either plane | 10 mm max | Measured over a 1 metre gauge length |
| Beam deflection under load | Under working load | Span / 200 | e.g. a 2,700 mm beam must not deflect more than 13.5 mm |
| Beam residual deformation | Unloaded after load removal | Span / 1000 | Permanent set remaining once the beam is unloaded |
Measured, not guessed
Every Rackstor repair assessment is carried out against these exact SEMA tolerances. Our engineers measure bends, deflections and residual deformation on site — so you know whether a component can stay in service or must be replaced, with a clear audit trail for HSE, insurers and SEMA records.
